'Freedom' Project - My Exhibition Presentation - Evaluation

On the 10th June, our work was presented in St. Mary's Church exhibition, this day was a private evening for friend and family to attend as well as our teachers in sharing the celebration of our first exhibit of our work. We each got a board that was about 1m by 2m to present out work on. My canvas was hung up with 2 mirror plates which I bought beforehand to prepare my presentation. An electric was used to drill in the screws through the mirror plates to hold up my work. My final piece was hung up in the centre of my board on the left-hand side. I then positioned 6 sheets of card around it (above, below and to the right of it) with Velcro (easily taken down) which had my 63 squares mounted on them. I made sure my work was evenly spaced out on the board and that each drawing was easily noticeable for the audience when viewing it. I was happy with how my work was presented on the board and was glad I finished it all in time for the day. My display board looked a lot better to me than my original display plan (which I drew out quickly a week before) and I’m very happy with how the day went.
I brought my parents and one of my friends with me to look at my work and other students work in the class. They were very impressed with my exhibition and a lot of people were crowding around my board so I was very pleased. There were a few other students in the exhibition in my class that had amazing work which caught my eye and a lot of people who visited the exhibition were admiring their work. I chose two of my favourite exhibits - that were the most colourful and caught my eye – to analyse for ‘critical studies’ – part of Unit 9. I took photographs of my work with my Samsung phone as evidence for my blog and evaluation to show how my exhibit looked.
The best thing about my work/exhibit was how detailed my drawings were and colourful & bold they are. They must be eye catching and admirable as everyone visiting the exhibition went over to my exhibit and there was always someone looking at it so it took a while for me to take the pictures for my blog – I waited for people to leave beforehand. I am happy with my work, I feel like it resembled animal freedom as it was meant to and I am proud of how it came out. I wish I could have done a bigger final piece or made it look more realistic and in the style of my chosen artist ‘Johnn Banovich’. My final piece is 2 birds flying around outside an open cage at mid-day; the full moon is out and around it are the words ‘freedom’. Part of the letter ‘M’ in the work freedom represents a silhouette of a bird flying away. There are several small silhouettes of birds flying around in the sky and a lot of nature all around e.g. tree branches, grass, a flower etc. which I mostly got from my primary research. I made it very colourful and peaceful – birds represent freedom more than any other animal I feel – so I am very happy of my choice of what I drew. Overall I feel my FMP was a success and am very happy with the outcome and feedback people have given me about my work.
