“A unique animal welfare charity

We're the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) and we've been here, looking out for animals, since 1824.

It's our vision to work for a world in which all humans respect and live in harmony with all other members of the animal kingdom.

Every day, with the help of our people and our generous supporters, we take steps to achieve our mission. From rescuing a stranded deer to changing the law, we've already achieved so much and come so far.

The RSPCA is a registered charity in England and Wales.”

About WWF-UK:

Launched on 23 November 1961, WWF-UK was the first National Organisation in the WWF network. Today we have offices in England, Scotland and Wales. We are a registered charity - most of our income comes from voluntary sources, such as our dedicated members, supporters and the business community. Our 300+ staff work with governments, businesses and communities both here in the UK and around the world.

We use our experience, credibility and influence to help create long-term solutions to global threats to people and nature - such as climate change, the peril to endangered species and habitats, and the unsustainable consumption of the world’s natural resources".

“Welcome to Rainforest Saver.  We are a charity promoting a technique called Inga alley cropping as a replacement for slash and burn farming in tropical rainforest areas.  Currently we work with projects in Honduras and Cameroon.  Slash and burn is an unsustainable agricultural technique practiced by 200 to 300 million tropical farmers worldwide, because that is the only way of making a living that they know. It means continuously cutting down the rainforests.  Inga alley cropping is a successful alternative. It enables the farmer to make a better living without cutting down more forest. Rainforest Saver supports local, grassroots organisations to promote this better way of farming in practical ways.”

“As the UK's largest woodland conservation charity, we are the leading voice for woods and trees. We campaign to protect precious ancient woods, restore the ones that are damaged and fight for those under threat. We create new native woodland with the help of communities, schools, organisations and individuals.

We inspire people up and down the country to visit woods, plant trees, treasure wildlife, and enjoy the overwhelming benefits that woods and trees offer to our landscape and lives.

“The rainforest is a home, a habitat, a shelter, a pharmacy, a supermarket and an ecosystem that supports many lives and livelihoods. For the indigenous people and animals that inhabit it, the rainforest is everything. Yet most forest dependent people are unable to defend the lands on which they live from forest destruction, land theft and resource exploitation. The Rainforest Foundation UK aims to change this.

At the RFUK, we tackle deforestation locally and globally. Locally, we help forest communities to gain land rights, challenge logging companies, manage their forests and protect their environment. Globally, we campaign to influence national and international laws to protect rainforests and their inhabitants.

Our approach differs from that of other organisations in that it is committed to both human rights and environmental protection. Instead of purchasing land or conserving forests purely for their biodiversity value, the RFUK promotes the establishment of community rights over rainforest lands, tackling the root of the problems related to deforestation and paving the way for local people to benefit fairly from the use and protection of forest resources.

Indigenous peoples' participation as well as their knowledge of the local ecology are now recognised as the most effective way of protecting the environment. We have been helping indigenous and local communities to protect millions of hectares of rainforest over the last 25 years and we will continue empowering forest people to secure lands and sustain lives for future generations.

Our goal is to help indigenous peoples and forest communities around the world gain the land and resource rights they deserve, and in the process reduce deforestation activities such as illegal logging and palm oil production.

Extractive industries, the lack of recognition of community land rights, weak governance and flawed environmental protection policies all contribute to marginalising forest protection and the people who have protected them for centuries.

We help by offering legal support, and working with local partners on projects such as Mapping for Rights, Community Legal Fieldworkers and Sustainable livelihoods."

“FOUR PAWS is an international animal welfare charity. Our vision is a world where humans treat animals with respect, empathy and understanding.

Our mission is to be the strong, global and independent voice for animals under human control.

•Creating sustainable solutions for animals in need

•Touching hearts, changing consumer behaviour

•Driving legal changes

•Building powerful partnerships

We aim to realise these goals through our projects and campaigns, which provide short-term and long-term solutions for animals in need.

Our campaigns

Our campaigns are aimed at creating better living conditions for farm animals, wild animals, laboratory animals and companion animals.

As more and more decisions about animal welfare are made at a European level, we focus our efforts increasingly on European policy makers in order to influence their beliefs, in favour of animals.

Our projects

The goal of our national and international projects is to provide direct assistance to animals in need. Our team rescues animals and rehomes them in our sanctuaries, where they can recover them in a natural environment. Simultaneously, we aim to improve the political climate for animal welfare and prevent animal suffering in the future.

Bears

Dancing bears, circus bears and other bears in private captivity suffer greatly. FOUR PAWS has four sanctuaries, in which several bears have found a home for life. We founded and run sanctuaries in Austria, Bulgaria, Germany and Ukraine.

Lions

The appalling conditions which some captive big cats are forced to endure led to the opening of LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa. Rescued big cats are given a safe and natural environment where they can spend the rest of their lives.

 Stray Animal Care

Stray dogs and cats roam the streets of many countries around the world, unloved and uncared for. FOUR PAWS works to successfully prevent disease and the uncontrolled reproduction by treating and neutering stray animals.

FOUR PAWS receives no government funding. It is only with the help of our kind donors and supporters that we can help animals.”
