Project Title: 'Animals in their Habitats'
Section 1: (Approx. 150 words)
Throughout this Art course I have experimented with different medias, techniques and have achieved and progressed over the past two years. The medias I have used consist of Graphite Pencil, Charcoal Pencil, Coloured Pencil, Water-colour Pencil, Biro Pen, Fine-liner pen, Water-colour paint, Acrylic paint, Oil Pastels, Chalk Pastels, Magazine cuttings, Coloured Card and Coloured Paper. I have also used a variety of techniques including Crosshatching, Impasto, Sgraffito and Collage. This course has given me the opportunity to explore a new range of media and techniques that I may not have usually chose to use in the past such as Gouache, Charcoal Pencil, Impasto and Sgraffito. I have stronger knowledge of artists, illustrators and designers such as John Banovich (Painter), Mary GrandPre, Bonnie Cashin, Paul Klee etc. The pathway I have chosen is ‘Fine Art’ – because painting and drawing are my strongest abilities and what I enjoy the most. I work the quickest and achieve my strongest outcomes within ‘Fine Art’. In this project I will use a range of different media and techniques to make my work creative. This will show a range of practical skills, techniques and methods.
Section 2: (Approx. 250 words)
For my FMP theme, I have chosen ‘Animals in their Habitats’ because drawing animals and plants are what I enjoy the most and work the quickest on – I would also like to learn about different animal’s environments and how they adapt to their Habitats. This project will consist of Primary and Secondary research, artists research/analysis sheets, critical studies, A3 Sketchbook, drawing from observation, design sheets, mood boards, blog posts, time management sheets and annotations of all research and drawings etc. Some artists I may use for this project include: Andy Goldsworthy, Jim Dratfield, John Banovich, David Lloyd, Peter Clarke and Tony Fitzpatrick. These are Animal and Wildlife/Landscape painters, collage artists, sculptor and photographers. My sketchbook will include Primary and Secondary research of photographs I take myself from places like ‘Sea life centre’, ‘Cannon Hall farm’, Zoos and Museums that I visit, my own pets, friend’s pets and wildlife and plants around where I live. I will get secondary research and images from online websites, magazines and books. It will also include my observational drawings of animals and their habitats (where I will experiment with different medias and techniques), some artist research and critical studies and design developments.
Section 3: (Approx. 100 words)
My blog posts and time management sheets will be how I will evaluate what I have done every day. Daily records will allow me to see where I am in the project, what I need to improve on, how much time has gone by and how much time I have left. In my blog I will state processes I undertake, things I am enjoying, things that go wrong and how I will progress.
